liverpool sound city 2018

Liverpool Sound City is back in the city Centre and looks as though it could be as mouth watering as previous events. Keith Goldhanger has his train ticket sorted already.

Sound City 2018,  5- 6 May, Liverpool Baltic Triangle

The latest edition of the award-winning metropolitan festival of live music and arts, will take place on the 5th and 6th May Bank Holiday Weekend 2018. Sound city is returning to Liverpool City Centre taking over a wide variety of interesting spaces to deliver the very best breakthrough acts and major names both from across the UK and abroad, as well as a host of independent record label parties and showcases hand picked by a panel of acclaimed regional, national and international curators.

Over 250 bands, old and new will be appearing in more than a dozen venues over the first weekend of May. Past events (especially now the shows are spread around the bars and clubs around the Baltic Triangle of the city) have proved to be an annual highlight for one or two of us who have in the past found ourselves spending over twelve exciting hours a day catching bands that we’ve embraced and found their music sound tracking our lives for many months and years later.

The first few bands have been announced already, there’ll be more announcements as the event gets closer.

This is a weekend that we are sure won’t disappoint.

We’ll be there – come along too.

Keith Goldhanger -- Spent the '90s as a frontman with London noise merchants HEADBUTT - spent the '80s in 'Peel favourites' BASTARD KESTREL. Spent a few years mashing up tunes and remixing bands as HIDEOUS WHEEL INVENTION. Is often out and about getting in the way of things and bumping his head on low ceilings - Will give your band the time of day but will dislike any band that balances full pints of alcohol on the top of guitar amps (Not keen on lead singers that wear hats either).
