A Selection Of This Weeks Best Videos. 11th Aug.

Each week there’s a whole host of new video’s released that we’d love to share with you but sadly time never permits. However there’s no reason for us not to get to Saturday & put a few of them together into a randomly numbered list of our favourites. Here’s this weeks list.

So what did we miss? There’s bound to be something. Let us know in the comments.

Tom Waits – “Hell Broke Luce”

A new video by Tom Waits is always cause for celebration. This one is directed by Matt Mahurin & revolves around an apocalyptic war dream that has Waits pulling a house across the country. The featured track is off Tom’s last album, 2011’s “Bad As Me”.

No Doubt ‘Settle Down’ (remixed by Major Lazer)

The Long Awaited comeback single by No Doubt was remixed by ‘kings of the refit’ Major Lazer recently.

Redd Kross Stay Away From Downtown

Redd Kross (who once opened for Black Flag) have just released their first album for 16 years. This is the first video they’ve made from it & is typically a ludicrously catchy power-pop punk number.

Antony and the Johnsons: “Cut The World”

Last week Antony released the new video for ”ËœCut The World’ featuring Willem Dafoe and Game of Throne’s Carice van Houten. It’s not for the squeamish. We reviewed Anthony & the Johnsons new album this week here.

WHY? – Sod In The Seed

WHY?’s new EP drops next week & they’ve just released this video directed by Scott M. Fredette featuring the title track from it.

Cat Power – Ruin

Cat Power dropped a free download from her forthcoming album. This is the complimentary album announcement video. Download the single here.

There’s a new Sub Pop band on the block & just for a change (insert sarc mark here) ‘the blogs’ and ‘everyone”s going bonko for them. And yep, when I say ‘everyone’ I mean us too – it’s great. Sadly this is just a 30 sec clip I’m afraid.

FIDLAR – ‘No Waves’

We recently covered FIDLAR as a New Band of the Day and last week they released this brilliant VHS era inspired video. Great band, lo-fi video. Lo-fi band, great video.

Ital – ‘Culture Club’

Round my way we call this the tune of the moment. This track’s off Ital’s amazing recent album Hive Mind & it stars Mykki Blanco and a shedload of dogs

Full Of Hell- Return to the Mines (feat Mike Riley)

Hardcore annihilators Full Of Hell just dumped this track on us last week, a preview of a forthcoming split EP feat them & Calm The Fire on the marvellous Holy Roar Records. This track includes Mike Riley of Pulling Teeth & it’s a it special.

Freddie Gibbs & Madlib – Shame

Feat. BJ The Chicago Kid this is the follow up video to “Thuggin’”. It’s directed by Jonah Schwartz and presented by Madlib Invazion and DD172 Films.

Antibalas “Dirty Money”

A preview track from the New York Afrobeat collective’s soon to be released eponymous album.

Toro Y Moi – Rose Quartz @ Lollapalooza 2012

Nice professionally shot video of rising star Toro Y Moi’s track ‘Rose Quartz’ recorded live at Lollapalooza last week.

Guy is a former full time member of the Louder Than War editorial team, who's since moved on to pastures new. Music's been a large part of his life since he first stumbled across Peel on his tranny as a fifteen year old. His whole approach to music was learnt from Peel in fact, which includes having as inclusive a taste in music as possible. Guy devotes most of his time looking for new music & although he's been known to say "the only good music is new music" he pretty much accepts this is bollocks. Favourite band The Minutemen.
