Eagulls To Release Debut Album in 2014News about debut album from Leeds buzz band Eagulls – plus stream of the soon to be released lead single off it.

Eagulls are one of those bands who Louder Than War’s writers (and editors) up and down the country have embraced big time. Pop the band’s name in the search box above and you’ll find no end of pieces about them ranging from new artist bits, live reviews and festival performances. So we’re pretty stoked to be able to bring you the news that they’ve slated in their debut, self-titled album, for release in 2014.

Monday March 3rd of 2014 to be precise.

The press release says about the album:

Recorded in Leeds between touring and their full-time dead-end jobs, the 10-track album features Nerve Endings, their first single for Partisan, which was released in September of this year, and both tracks from their new single, a double A-side of Tough Luck / Opaque which is released on Monday December 16th 2013.

The single, Tough Luck, takes inspiration from outside “the punk-pool” usually associated with Eagulls, boasting as it does a “menacing Joy Division-esque baseline” (and in this case that’s totally no bullshit). That “menace” comes across particularly, the number is lacking in any pretense of bubbliness and is deeply sunk in a more mature and darker sound than we’re used to hearing from the band. It sounds great in fact.

Check out the single below and the track list, plus news of a couple of live UK dates can be found under that.

Guy is a former full time member of the Louder Than War editorial team, who's since moved on to pastures new. Music's been a large part of his life since he first stumbled across Peel on his tranny as a fifteen year old. His whole approach to music was learnt from Peel in fact, which includes having as inclusive a taste in music as possible. Guy devotes most of his time looking for new music & although he's been known to say "the only good music is new music" he pretty much accepts this is bollocks. Favourite band The Minutemen.
