Sugar announce ‘A Box Of Sugar’ vinyl box set…

Ex-Sugar front man Bob Mould has just released his solo album ‘Silver Age’ via Edsel/Demon Music (LTW Review) – therefore seems timely for a re-issue of the entire Sugar output…

Demon Music have today announced the forthcoming release of ‘A Box Of Sugar’ – a deluxe vinyl only box set containing the complete recordings made between 1992 and 1995 by Sugar to be released on the 10th December 2012.

The box set marks the 20th anniversary of ‘Copper Blue’s 1992 release, and contains:

• Vinyl replicas of all 3 studio albums with printed inner sleeves
• Double gatefold B-sides collection, incorporating their 1992 BBC radio session in full
• Double gatefold live album recorded in 1994
• Vinyl replica of their debut 7” on Bob Mould’s Singles Only label
• First ever vinyl issues of ‘Besides’ and ‘The Joke Is Always On Us, Sometimes’
• 20 page 12” x 12” book on high quality offset paper containing photos, rare memorabilia and candid interviews that tell the story of the band’s short but intense career in their own words.
• 8 pieces of vinyl total.
• All recordings have been remastered for vinyl from the original tapes by ‘FU:EL’ engineer Jim Wilson.

The box set is available for pre-order now

Phil Newall is 47, from The Wirral - he earns his living not writing about music nor playing music...though sorely wishes he could. He was fortunate enough to see many of the first generation punk bands when they played the U18's matinee shows at Eric's, Liverpool. As an attendee at Eric's he was exposed to punk rock, dub reggae, art rock, and all manner of weirdness; as a customer at Probe Records he was variously served and scowled at by Pete Wylie and Pete Burns - he has written for Record Collector, Whisperin & Hollerin, and Spiral Scratch and wanted to write a book detailing the Liverpool punk scene; however with 'Head-On' Julian Cope beat him to it...and frankly did a much better job.
