Louder Than War brings you the low down on Groezrock Festival, one of the most well attended festivals across the whole of Europe & one which brings the cream of the world’s punk & hardcore bands together in one place.
This year Groezrock, Belgium’s festival opener and probably Europe’s biggest punk-rock event, will take place on the 27th & 28th of April. Located in a small village near the Dutch border called Meerhout it has been running for 22 years already and it attracts more than 40.000 punk rockers and hardcore kids from all over Europe.
The 2013 line-up includes legendary bands Bad Religion and Pennywise (both of them a bit of a staple in the festival in recent years). They’ll be joined by heavyweight acts such as Rocket From The Crypt, Rise Against, Turbonegro, Billy Talent and The Used. There’s also a unique chance to see Black Flag original members reuniting as Flag and Texas Is The Reason playing one of their last shows ever.
For those that might find any of the above-mentioned not alternative enough for their taste check A Wilhelm Scream, Samiam, Comeback Kid, Sparta, Hatebreed, The Flatliners or Less Than Jake.
True underground connoisseurs will have their share too with Nothington, Far From Finished, Louder Than War favourites Title Fight, Iron Chic, Polar Bear Club and many more, catering everything from metal-core to acoustic punk-folk. Sadly though Trash Talk recently announced they won’t be able to play the festival as one of their members has health issues.
