Elbow to launch own ‘Build A Rocket Boys!’ ale

Elbow today announced that they are launch their own brand of beer!

The Bury based chart toppers describe themselves as “proud supporters of traditional British real ale”, as such they teamed up with local family brewers Robinsons Of Stockport, to create a beer brewed to their own specifications. The result will be named ”ËœBuild A Rocket Boys!’ and is described as a golden premium session bitter with a 4.0% ABV, available in cask only.

The band are said to have enjoyed a series of tastings at the brewery, before narrowing down their preferred style of beer, taste and colour, before settling on what they describe as a “golden ale with a rich rounded body, smooth bitterness, subtle tang of malt and fruity aroma.”

The ‘Build A Rocket Boys!’will be officially launched at the 14th Manchester Food And Drink Festival in October and will be available for a limited time in selected Robinsons pubs throughout September and October.

Lucky students will also be able to find it at universities in the northwest region throughout Freshers’ Week. Very limited stocks will made available at selected free trade outlets nationally.

We here at LTW are eagerly awaiting the DHL van with our supplies for a full tasting review…

Phil Newall is 47, from The Wirral - he earns his living not writing about music nor playing music...though sorely wishes he could. He was fortunate enough to see many of the first generation punk bands when they played the U18's matinee shows at Eric's, Liverpool. As an attendee at Eric's he was exposed to punk rock, dub reggae, art rock, and all manner of weirdness; as a customer at Probe Records he was variously served and scowled at by Pete Wylie and Pete Burns - he has written for Record Collector, Whisperin & Hollerin, and Spiral Scratch and wanted to write a book detailing the Liverpool punk scene; however with 'Head-On' Julian Cope beat him to it...and frankly did a much better job.
