Zoe Howe’s top 10 music books : number 6
As frothy as one of Yates’ puffball skirts, this book is as naughty as you’d expect, but as well as lifting the lid on The Tube and sharing often touching stories about Bob and their family (although my favourite line, courtesy of Bob himself, has to be: “If you ever have another baby, I’ll shoot my dick off”), Yates didn’t shy away from expressing her emotional pain and childhood confusion, even if she did package much of it with ascerbic humour.
