Win a pair of tickets to Solfest 2013

For our latest competition we are delighted to have teamed up with Solfest 2013 to offer a pair of tickets for the entire festival…2013 marks the tenth anniversary of the festival which was conceived, and remains run as a not-for-profit event – every penny of the takings gets reinvested back into the festival which continues to be run entirely by volunteers.

The ethos of the festival stems from an idea back in 2003 “People do things for all sorts of strange reasons. When we first conceived Solfest back in the summer of 2003, our aim was very simple; we wanted to create the sort of festival we thought that we would like to go to ourselves. We were all tired and disillusioned by mainstream corporate events, structured around commercial greed, which had lost sight of any notion of “community”. The plan was to create a festival where the punter came first. Not necessarily a big festival, but certainly a good one.”

In addition to the headline music acts Solfest aims to provide something for everyone, from workshops and events in the Healing Garden to activities in the Children’s Arena, and a vast array of music and performance spaces around the festival’s site

This year’s festival looks to be one of the most exciting yet; the line-up split over the three days includes Maximo Park, Flogging Molly, New Model Army, Afro Celt Sound System, Deaf School, Utah Saints, The Undertones, Bombscare, The Joy Formidable, Neck, The Roughneck Riot, and Eat Static, more acts are to be confirmed. The festival is held at Tarnside Farm approximately halfway between the towns of Aspatria and Silloth, Cumbria which boasts panoramic views across the Solway Firth taking in a backdrop of the Scottish Southern Uplands. In the opposite direction, the Main Stage is set against a backdrop of the English Lake District.

Tickets are on sale now – All tickets are for the full weekend. Day tickets are not available.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday night camping is included in your ticket price and there’s no extra charge for a live-in vehicle, caravan, campervan or trailer tent unless you intend to arrive on Thursday. If so, you will need to purchase one advance Thursday Camping Pass per vehicle (not per person). This is a £15 vehicle permit that applies for any vehicle with 2 or more axles. It does not apply to motorcycles.

Tickets for Solfest 2013 are priced as follows:

•Adult On-Line Only Early Bird – £99 (Limited to the first 1000 – SOLD OUT)
•Adult Standard – £109
•Young People (age 12-16) Early Bird – £65 (Limited number)
•Young People Standard (age 12-16) – £70
•Child Tickets (age 6-11) – £30
•Babies & Toddlers (age 0-5) – FREE but still need a ticket.
•Thursday Camping (per vehicle) – £15

However, we are pretty sure you would rather win a pair of Adult Standard Tickets…To get your hands on the tickets just answer this fiendishly difficult question;

Q. In 2005, Maxïmo Park released their debut album, which sold over 300,000 copies and was nominated for that years Mercury Prize – What was it called?

Competition is now CLOSED

The prize is for a pair of festival tickets only, travel is to be arranged by the winner – No cash alternative is offered. The editors decision is final.
