Watch This! The Vaccines announce single / tour – stream video for Handsome now

The Vaccines have announced details of the release of the first track from their forthcoming third album. They’ve also dropped a a fantastically riotous video which sees the band taking on the roles of martial art trained vigilantes. Check it out below, with more album details and tour details, below.

The single, due out on 9th March, was recorded in the winter of 2014 at Dave Fridmann’s Tarbox Road Studio in upstate New York as part of the album sessions and was produced by The Vaccines, Fridmann (Flaming Lips, Tame Impala, MGMT) and Cole MGN (Ariel Pink, Beck, Nite Jewel).

It features the B-side Handsome Reimagined (Dave Fridmann edit), a reinterpretation of the track by Fridmann.

The video, which you can stream below, was directed by CANADA, an international collective of directors based in Barcelona. About the video the band’s Justin Young says:

“We wanted to create a video that was a sort of bubblegum ode to cinema and, in particular, Hong Kong kung fu movies.

“Music to me is entertainment, and escapism, and we wanted the video to be an extension of that. We want to create another world in which we can play aspirational and heightened versions of ourselves. We shot this through a winter’s night in a warehouse in Brooklyn, just before Christmas. No fun indeed. Gerson though, as Canada directors always seem to do, helped us escape and create exactly the world in which we wish we lived.”

Guy is a former full time member of the Louder Than War editorial team, who's since moved on to pastures new. Music's been a large part of his life since he first stumbled across Peel on his tranny as a fifteen year old. His whole approach to music was learnt from Peel in fact, which includes having as inclusive a taste in music as possible. Guy devotes most of his time looking for new music & although he's been known to say "the only good music is new music" he pretty much accepts this is bollocks. Favourite band The Minutemen.
