Whilst there is no way we would condone the use of heroin it has certainly inspired some great music whilst wrecking a lot of lives. The drug’s mixture of soporific highs, numbing sensations and dark, deep lows and cravings has been the inspiration for many artists and, whilst many of these songs have never come out with their true meaning, well..we kinda know…


1. The Velvet Underground ‘Heroin’

Perhaps the most famous song about the drug, Heroin by the Velvets even seems to mirror the stark and dark rush of the drug and sounds like a scuzzy early seventies New York drug deal froma songwriter with a perfect eye for the detail of the chemical hipsters lives.
