They brought Jewish folk music out of the synagogue and grabbed a lot of attention with cynical songs such as “No Baguette in the Ghetto”, “It’s Wonderful Here” and “Five Suggestions for Solving the Conflict”. Surprisingly, there isn’t much political rock in Israel, so Habiluim became an instant favorite for leftists and liberals, a dose of sanity in the guise of pop music.
