CirGeRcWgAAKWGKThose big bands have certainly learned how to play the web game.

Mystery, intrigue and sudden releases are all the, ahem, rage now!

The latest is Rage Against the Machine.

The band who have been away for five years now have launched a cryptic countdown clock on a new website, The countdown leads to June 1. If the user writes in their email address, they’ll be taken to an image reading, “Clear the way for the prophets of rage,” which is a Public Enemy lyric from the song “Prophets of Rage.” The hashtag, “#TakeThePowerBack,” is from a Rage Against the Machine song.

There have also been reports of the image plastered around L.A., and Chuck D has taken to tweeting some videos of the band performing live in 2010.

What can it all mean? a joint tour? a joint record? or a nice day…
