Geoff Barrow’s INVADA label seems to keep on going from strength to strength and after possibly it’s strongest year in terms of releases thus far the bar has been set high for 2013. We’ve known for a while now that one of the first releases due out on INVADA next year will be the second album by cacophonous sonic explorers Thought Forms but until now we’ve not had much more to go on about it.

So the news is that the album’s called ‘GHOST MOUNTAIN’ & it’ll be released on 18th February 2013.

Those of us who live in Bristol have had a sneak preview of one of the off the album, Sans Solei, via our local Introducing Show. The track hints at a new direction which the band appear to be moving in, one in which vocals much more to the fore than we’ve come to expect from the band in the past & much less, well, fuzzed up & shrieky. Granted there are still hints to the ethereal doom & heavy psychedelic soundscapes of the past but the walls of noise we’ve learnt to expect from Thought Forms (especially live) have been tempered a tad in this track and the whole has been married into a cleverer, more layered, more complex sound, one which more than nods towards maturity.

The band already have a massive fan base having played with the likes of Portishead, Mogwai & Fuck Buttons in the past (three bands whose influence can be heard when you listen to Thought Forms) & I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the album that sends them into the big time.

Bearing that in mind, you should all probably take note of the following dates with their label mates (and boss Geoff Barrow) BEAK> coz this could be your last chance to see them in a reasonably sized venue:
