The Voice silenced!
The Voice silenced!

The Voice TV series which has millions of pounds spent on it, endless tabloid hype and a prime time TV slot has had to cancel the tour by the no mark singers on the show that everyone has forgotten already.

Poor ticket sales (dismal actually far arena shows and far less than middling punk band can get on the circuit with none of the hype) meant the tour had to be pulled which comes weeks after the winner’s songs flailed to make the top 40.

The series has been beset with problems with bad viewing figures and a gradual slump in interest in the show.

Is this another sign that people are getting bored of the formulae?

We don’t begrudge these programmes we just wish there was more TV space for everyone else out there- after all not everyone can cram onto Jools Holland’s Later can they?

  1. agreed on this. you could tell there were issues when at least 2 of the judges said things like “you’d be who i’d go to a stadium gig for”. As if. it was totally scripted by then, I assume to deal w/ dwindling viewing figures.

in that world (TV karaoke), it was a noble attempt to bring it back to singing ability, rather than carcrash TV or putting out the cutest boys w/ formulaic pap. i think it lost its way a bit.

shame really and it’s in no way representative of what our fine Isle can produce in terms of art – look no further than this week’s “dream life” by mary epworth or daniel land’s “the space between us”.

there’s a thriving music scene here, you just have to look for it and engage with it differently than before. it’s less passive! we can and will make it work.
