The Twilight Sad: The Remixes Album AND Competition

The Twilight Sad: No One Can Ever Know – The Remixes Album (FatCat Records)
Out Nov 5th

The Twilight Sad will be releasing a remixed version of No One Can Ever Know in a couple of weeks & we have copies to give away along with tickets to their upcoming tour. Read on for details.

Back in February of this year, Scotland’s The Twilight Sad released their third album No One Can Ever Know. It was something of a head turner for the band, marking a shift in direction which was pretty well met with universal praise. Exploring a more industrial, synth driven sound it could have been perceived as a risky move from the band known more for their gloomy, introspective indie-rock / folk. Even if you accept that as a valid train of thought you’d be hard pressed not to be blown away by the results of that shift.

From the mesmerising synthesiser and impassioned vocal of James Graham on opener ‘Alphabet’ to the driving, infectious rhythm of ‘Dead City’ driven by Mark Devine’s relentlessly pounding drums it’s an album that constantly dazzles. There’s not a dip anywhere. ‘Don’t Move’ is sinister but fantastic, while slower numbers like ‘Not Sleeping’ and ‘Don’t Look At Me’ are full of menacing promise. The soundscapes created by guitarist Andy MacFarlane underpin each song with a dazzling array of colour. If you don’t own this record you really should.

Now, the band and FatCat Records have announced the November 5th release of the No One Can Ever Know -The Remixes. Whilst not a remix of every track, it’s a tantalising prospect nonetheless. Artists such as Liars, Tom Furse of The Horrors, Com Truise and JD Twitch / Optimo are all on board, as well as some up and coming artists like Brokenchord and Warsnare. A full track listing can be found below along with a stream of the Liars remix of ‘Nil’. The band will also be hitting the road for a UK tour in October, as well as fitting in a date in Glasgow in December. All dates are listed below.

Louder Than War have been lucky enough to score some tickets to dates on the tour and some CD’s. Three of each in fact. SO we’re running a competition to win a CD & a pair of tickets. Three prizes in other words.

A child of the 1970's, I have an unnatural obsession with The Jam and Star Wars. This has never changed and I look forward to handing this down to my 1 year old daughter some day. Can be found lurking around at gigs in Edinburgh, before skulking off over the Forth Road Bridge to Fife with a notebook full of my ramblings. Not consigned to any particular genre - just love music. Can also be found talking rubbish on twitter far too often.
