The Stranglers to appear on this years proms on August 12thThis years proms will have an eclectic bill that has fantastically annoyed the Daily Mail readership. Along with rapper Maverick Sabre and a first time woman conductor on the last night the Stranglers will be performing four songs on August 12th.

The BBC asked the great Steve Lamacq to help book the bands and when he suggested the Stranglers the initially pushed for Alt J but, for once, fashion was pushed aside and the meninblack got the gig which makes more sense.

  1. Ah The Proms. What the Tory Party would call ‘a rave’.

I remember many moons ago attending some Cirque Du Whatever at the Albert Hall with an ex-girlfriend (my brother was seeing Velvet Revolver across town and texting me constantly about how good it was which made it infinitely worse) and a friend of her family tried to impress me by saying he’d attended the last night of said Proms and recently seen Chris De Burgh there. Which he pronounced ‘Chris De Burr’. Which made me want to eat my own face. So you could say I found his musical tastes less than impressive.
