Beefheart – Doc At The Radar Station (1980)

Shend ‘I’d heard Beefheart stuff before but never really ‘got it’ until I bought this when it came out. I heard Ashtray Heart on Peel and thought it was the finest and saddest love song ever. Every track led me down a different path  of enlightenment and the way his voice can change completely from one word in a sentence to the next. It caused me to collect everything I could by the man and his band. Anyone capable of writing, A Carrot is as Close as a Rabbit Gets to a Diamond, will always be held in high esteem in my head and heart.’
