The Musgraves: You That Way I This Way (OK Good Records)
The Musgraves make great indie music full of unashamed pop sensibility. For Louder Than War Sheryl Willis smiles and sings along.
The Musgraves are a new Indie four piece that pack happy folk with early rock into easy listening music. On top of that The Musgraves cannot quite compare to anything currently out there in the music scene.
This quartet have achieved something quite remarkable with their debut ‘You That Way I This Way’ which is creating eleven separate tracks that all standout in their own unique and inspiring way. As far as new music acts go in this day and age it seems to be a struggle to create an album that holds the listeners attention right until the last beat. The Musgraves do this because tracks like ‘Fortune Teller’ and ‘Last Of Me’ are instantaneously a winner and grab you hook line and sinker.
Many of you are probably raising the question of do we need another indie band, the answer to that is possibly no but we DO need The Musgraves. Whether it’s playing this album in your garden on a nice day with the BBQ in the background or catching them at a live show this summer The Musgraves will definitely only enhance your summer with their feel good vibes and won’t fail to get you smiling and singing along.
Another rarity for such a new band is how they so effortlessly mix so many genres together to make it sound perfect, take track three ‘It’s You’ with its somewhat reggae influences while ‘Loving You Hurts’ on the other hand is more swinging sixties than anything else. Here are one of those bands who will work hard but who will succeed on a high level, step over Mumford and Sons it’s time for The Musgraves.
