Recently featured in Louder Than War, Lancasterian tune-smiths The Long Lost Band are to due to release their Christmas single ‘Twelfth Knight’ November the 30th. Originally starting life out as a poem its author, the Long Lost Band fan ‘Radio Caroline’ DJ Peter Antony, took his work to the group with the idea of turning ‘Twelfth Night’ into a fully fledged Christmas song.

The DJ’s interest and love for The Long Lost Bands music came from regularly selecting and playing songs from their last E.P on his Morning Radio Show, so when he decided to try to find a group to produce a song around the festive piece there was only one band he had in mind for the job, The Long Lost Band.

Definitely something new if not as well flattering for the group, especially vocalist / singer songwriter Stuart Anthony who took to the task of shaping and molding a set of beautifully crafted lyrics around the words of Peter Anthony’s poem, its results were a pleasant surprise for all.

Musically Twelfth Knight’ possess those same folk / rock delights as their last E.P ‘The Big Light Secret’. A timeless sound joined by the festive chimes of mandolins and sleigh bells, its liable to make its own space in your chrimbo playlist this year, alongside end of year faves like The Pogues ‘Fairytale of New York and’Happy Christmas, War is Over’ by Lennon. ‘Twelfth Knight’ carries that same message and sentiment in its notes, chorus and musical DNA making it a ‘real’ Christmas song.

Available at all good download stores on Friday 30th November
