The Fall And Kill Pretty Play Manchester Cathedral Next May

The “Mighty”  Fall play a landmark gig at a somewhat unusual venue in May 2014 …

…Manchester Cathedral! (writes Ged Babey, our Southampton correspondent).

The support act for the prestigious show is Kill Pretty, a self confessed “backstreet Manchester band” who feature former Fall drummer, “The Teddy Boy one” and who played circa Rowche Rumble with Mike ‘MJ’ Leigh.

Kill Pretty are lead by the infamous yet cuddly Ian “Moet” Moss, one time member of the Hamsters who were signed to Mark E Smiths Cog Sinister label.

Kill Pretty say on their website:

“This will be the first time in 34 years that Mike has shared the same stage as Mark, and of course Moet and the Hamsters were very involved with The Fall in the early years, so this is a great opportunity to see some of the founding fathers of post-punk Manchester together in a special venue.”

It would be safe to say we are bit giddy about this news…..

What I want to know though is this: Is there a bar in a Cathedral? And will Mark E Smith be singing from a purpose-built pulpit fitted with optics and a commode? We really hope so!

  1. “…will Mark E Smith be singing from a purpose-built pulpit fitted with optics and a commode” – hahaha, I can picture it now. What a brilliant gig that will be. I’m sure the acoustics of a cathedral will further amplify The Fall’s raw live sound too. I wish I could be there!
