The Clash – “London Calling”
The Clash hitting their straps with a double album that kicks in with a wolf howl and never let’s up for the whole set, finishing with the joyous break-up pop song Train in Vain. The song writing is shared between Strummer and Jones like a punk Lennon and McCartney, and while the guitars stab away the whole thing is underpinned by the most unlikely rhythm section, the tight, fussy Topper Headon and the laconic loose reggae style of bassist Paul Simonon. Brilliant.
