The Cure will be taking their stadium goth back out on the summer circuit.
The band, who have cut some classic albums over the years will be ruffling their hair at the following festivals…
Born in Blackpool, frontman Robert Smith is one of the great british songwriters – somehow combining the tripped out genius of a Syd Barrett with the dark poetry of Ian Curtis and a punk sensibility and a darkness of the so called Goth scene which they were accidental precursors of.
The band’s first four albums really stand the test of time from the stark, stripped down punky pop shakes of their debut to the timeless class song ‘A Forest’ to their stunning dark work ‘Pornography’. They came out the space provided by punk with an introspection and power that made them a parallel band to Joy Division. I saw them live five years ago and they were still really good.
There’s a great blog on the site about The Cure.
