The Circus Of Horrors
Parr Hall, Warrington
8th Feb 2014

Roll up, roll up, the Circus is in town and not just any old Circus, but the one and only Circus of Horrors. Melanie Smith checked into the Parr Hall, armed with her camera to capture all the sleaze, thrills and chills of this famous bizarre, freak show, which wowed audiences on Britains Got Talent back in 2011.

The Circus Of Horrors are celebrating an incredible 18 years in the business, with their brand new show set in 1665 in a plague infested London, and titled London After Midnight. The show features the ringmaster Doktor Haze, sword swallower Hannibal Hellmurtos, Captain Dan the strongman Dwarf, high flying acts with the sinister blond twins, an exorcism with a contortionist, limbo dancers, dare-devils + freaks, ghouls, nudity and fire eaters.

It’s not only dangerous and bizarre, it also has elements of jaw dropping wonderment, as the evil twins display an electrifying flight in the air on silks, and swings. Beware the small print which says “not suitable for children, people of a nervous disposition, chavs & sissies!” and venture to a show near you at your own risk.

Go on try it, it’s all good fun, watch out for the flying blood and guts!

Live reviews editor and head of photography: I can't imagine my life without music or photography, both go hand in hand and have played a big part in my life. I have experienced many musical genres, northern soul in 1975, the early punk movement, drifting into the electronic 'new Romantic' era, a trip around the rock scene, a taste of indie and a smattering of pop. I possess an eclectic taste in music and a lust for life; new experiences are what drives this machine. I still have that punk DIY spirit and used this to create my own website Mudkiss Fanzine in 2008 - 2013. I am the official photographer for 'Louder Than Words' music literary festival and a house photographer for Academy Music Group.
