The Bikini Bottoms – Bite Me/Overtime
As if to prove that this lockdown hasn’t dulled creativity, but perhaps also born out of frustration, Glasgow surf garage rockers The Bikini Bottoms released their second of two new tunes today. Bite Me follows up their recent single Overtime.
Overtime is an in your face romp, a foot to the floor driving rhythm with some sweet licks and riffs throughout and lyrics surely influenced by how the guys are keeping their minds occupied during isolation. A cracking video accompanies the song, incorporating clips sent in from friends and fans of the band, an idea which I know has been used recently by the likes of Carol Hodge and Airdrie’s very own Reaction. I look forward to seeing the fruits of their labours. Proceeds from downloads of Overtime are going to the Trussell Trust so get over to bandcamp and download yours now.
New song, Bite Me, is another boisterous Bikini Bottoms belter, pounding beats from The Atomic Flounder underline a vibrantly persistent guitar line and luscious flourishes from our man Jack. The song screams out for your attention, as the lyrics eschew. Unfortunately, the bands regular Graveyard Bash Easter event was a victim of the current circumstances. If that means we get more new songs like these, I can live with that for now.
If you don’t like it? Bite Me!
