Louder Than War get a heads up on a soon to be released collection of rare and in some cases unheard, Beatles material courtesy of the BBC archive. Plus we’ve got a fascinating video trailer for it. Scroll down for more & to watch.
The Beatles camp have shared a new trailer for their new release ‘On Air – Live At The Bbc Volume 2’ which will be released on Monday November 11th 2013. The 3 minute video gives a taste of some of the unique and intimate moments of musical history that can be expected from this long-awaited follow up to the 1994 release ‘Live at the BBC’.
The new release contains 63 tracks, including 37 previously unreleased performances, none of which will overlap with the material on ‘Live at the BBC’. Paul McCartney has said of these performances “There’s a lot of energy and spirit. We are going for it, not holding back at all, trying to put in the best performance of our lifetimes.” What will no doubt also be of huge interest is the in-studio banter and conversations between the group and radio show hosts like Brian Matthew and Alan Freeman. It’s important to remember just how formal an organisation the BBC was at this time so the sound of an irreverent rock and roll combo laughing and joking in such a manner must have been a revelation.
The trailer captures the talent, the spontaneous moments in the studio and the hysteria which surrounded the band at the time. It’s also an essential glimpse into a world that has largely disappeared but to which we can still connect through the simple medium of music. The video is worth 3 minutes of anyone’s time and can be viewed below or on this link if you’re on a mobile phone.
