The Beastie Boys launch limited edition Converse sneakers

In the last few weeks we have featured a selection of artist licenced products including Elbow ale, Bring Me The Horizon BBQ sauce, Hiphop jigsaws, and Rammstein dildo’s.

Now we are pleased to announce The Beastie Boys have launched their own shoes.

The canvas high-top sneakers feature never-before published photos, which Sunny Bak took of the Beastie Boys during their 1986 ‘Licensed to Ill’ Tour ”“ the smeakers are now available in limited edition on ebay (USA)

The right sneaker features an image of MCA climbing the Paladium marquee. The left sneaker features an image of Mike D and Adrock holding up a bottle of Mad Dog in a drive-thru liquor barn somewhere in the Midwest. The tongue of both sneakers feature Sunny Bak’s signature.

There will be a strictly limited number of sneakers made. They are selling on ebay for $200, with 10% of each purchase going to Prop 8 Films, a production company with the goal of creating socially conscious documentary films for a wide audience throughout the world. Their first project is a documentary focusing on the issues of Proposition 8 and same-sex marriage around the country.

With all this band related merch, you would have thought Christmas was just around the corner…

  1. To clarify, the shoes are not being launched as an official piece of Beastie Boys merchandise, nor are the shoes in any way connected to Converse. Sunny Bak, the photographer whose images appear on the sneakers is the creator of these fashion/art pieces. Sunny Bak is selling these items on eBay and exclusively at The Ave in Venice, CA. The Beastie Boys have not been long supporters of Prop 8 Films, but the production company hopes that they may count the Beastie Boys among their fans and supporters in the future.
