We’re sending Keith Goldhanger to Cardiff SWN Festival for the weekend because we think he’d like it there.

It took a while for some of us to catch up with what had been going on in Cardiff for a few years under the banner of “SWN” (“Sound/Noise”).

We still remember fondly those four days back in 2013 that kept our cups overflowing with new bands and artists we’d not previously heard of before and some of them still remain on our mp3 players today.
Some have been seen since on large stages during the summer festivals and a couple have since appeared on Jools Holland.

During two days in November (7th & 8th) we’ll be jogging up and down Womanby Street as well as one or two other streets we can’t remember the names of and hoping to bring reports of even more bands we think you should know about.

It’s not too late to come yourself. One wristband gets you in to all the venues (subject to capacity), as you walk/run/meander around to discover as much new music as possible. There’s dozens of decent bands playing, it’s pronounced “Soon” and if you do miss out then we’ll be taking notes

The official website of the festival is: swnfest.com. It can also be found on Facebook and tickets can be purchased from here.

Keith Goldhanger -- Spent the 90's as a frontman with London noisemerchants HEADBUTT - spent the 80's in "Peel favourites" BASTARD KESTREL. Spent a few years mashing up tunes and remixing bands as HIDEOUS WHEEL INVENTION. Is often out and about getting in the way of things and bumping his head on low ceilings - drinks real ale, takes photo's has made a few short films. Will give your band the time of day but will dislike any band that balances full pints of alcohol on the top of guitar amps (Not keen on lead singers that wear hats either).
