The Stone Roses reformation has kick started an avalanche of sales with The Stone Roses debut album locked in a battle with this weeks number one album, a Greatest Hits from Steps for next weeks number one album spot.
In what is a sad indictment of the state of the UK scene, Steps hold this week’s number one album which underlines just why so many people are excited about the Roses comeback. This is the country that gave the world the Beatles/Stones/Led Zep/Punk rock and myriad of great music and musical cultures – now we have Steps… who the hell buys a Steps album? Is it people who look like Louis Walsh?
And why does X Factor get 99 per cent of pop culture media attention?
Tickets for the Stone Roses June 29/30 Stone Roses shows are ã55.00. Our hunch is that there will be more than two shows at Heaton Park plus more gigs to follow… V Festival would be a very good bet…
The Stone Roses will be the first band to play at Heaton Park since it was granted permission in May to become a fully-fledged concert and festival venue.
Town hall bosses announced that the park would host up to three, three-day music festivals for up to 80,000 people, and three further 50,000 capacity events a year. The application was inspired by the success of Oasis Ӊ who sold 210,000 tickets to a string of concerts at the park in 2009.
