Shuggy Otis – Inspiration Information

Stephen Mallinder ‘I love the idea of this album. Shuggy made it then kicked back for nearly 30 years, just not bothering. It’s an absolute classic – although it doesn’t have his most memorable track, ‘Strawberry Letter # 23’ which was on the previous and only other release. He must have thought “yeah that about does it … I’m gonna go cook some dinner and hang out now”. I like the drum-machiney understated vibe to the album, it sits in a great soul-folksy kind of space.
