Jesus & Mary Chain – Psycho Candy

Stephen Mallinder

‘It’s funny as this album came out as I was quite exclusively into electronic and specifically New York electo but I love this album. Never knock the reverb, such a beautiful wash of sound here, seriously the wall of sound reinvented for a generation who had lived through punk, it washed all the bad stuff away. They were one of my favourite guitar bands. I loved their gigs around this time, saw them play 20 minute drunken, falling over, sets – attitude, oblivion, fragile beauty … respect.’
