Squeeze made their name for their crafted songwriting, their classic guitar pop with a dash of social realism and kitchen sink drama but no-one ever had them down as political firebrands.
That was until they appeared on today’s Andrew Marr show where they took the opportunity to change the lyrics to one of their new songs to the face of Lord Smug – David Cameron – who was sat 5 feet away from them.
Cameron with his shape shifting record collection feigned to not notice the lyrics but then he has been doing that for years with his the Jam and Smiths records…

Trapped in the studio Cameron was forced to look on as the band sang: “I grew up in social housing, part of what made Britain great, there are some here who are hell-bent, on the destruction of the welfare state”
