On National Poetry Day, Thurs 3 Oct Manchester’s Cornerhouse will present the film Evidently… John Cooper Clarke, followed by a one-off interview with the legend LIVE-STREAMED from Newcastle’s Tyneside Cinema. The incomparable and irreverent Cooper Clarke will answer questions following the screening of Evidently…, a film about his life featuring contributions from Bill Bailey, Steve Coogan and Arctic Monkeys. See trailer below.
Punk poet John Cooper Clarke, the Bard of Salford, has been writing and performing his own brand of hysterically funny, scathingly political and often deeply moving poetry for four decades. After a teenage life as a Mod in Salford, John started out as a nightclub entertainer in the mid-1970s in the smoke-filled working-men’s clubs of the north. He quickly went on to find a new audience as part of the emerging Manchester music scene and found himself billed alongside bands such as The Sex Pistols, Buzzcocks, The Clash and Joy Division. Almost 40 years later John is as relevant as ever, playing sold-out shows nationwide.
Evidently… John Cooper Clarke LIVE – 3rd October 2013, 6.15pm
