Smiths Fan Donates Flower Thrown By Band 30 Years Ago To ExhibitionPop memorabilia is a strange business- bric a brac from long lost times left over sign posting memories and golden moments.

Old set lists, plectrums and bit of clothes are one thing but a dried up flower sitting in a milk bottle is something else.

When the Smiths broke out they were famous for throwing flowers into the crowd- I saw them play Dingwalls in London when there was about 40 people at the gig and the flowers lay in a heap on the floor. Months later they were a big deal and the flowers a big part of the story, so big that someone has kept one of the flowers that has wilted over the years.

It has been donated to a new exhibition of Manchester pop artefacts.
