Stone Roses sign big record deal
Stone Roses sign big record deal

As reported first on here a few weeks ago, Shane Meadows is to make the Stone Roses comeback documentary.

Meadows, with his background in Skinhead/scooter boy culture and his brilliant films including’This Is England’ is the perfect choice. His films show an understanding for the minutiae of pop culture that makes total sense in this context.

He was filming the Stone Roses press conference last month and is willing to put other projects on hold. This includes a third series of This Is England, which will be set in 1990.

Meadows is reported to have said that “bad acid trip” meant he was unable to attend the band’s 1990 Spike Island gig – something he has been gutted about ever since- a good enough reason but it didn’t seem to stop anyone else!

Meadows says, ‘It’s one of those things which come up rarely in life, when you go, ‘If they want me to do it and it comes off I’m doing that’. This is me going back to Spike Island but at about 40 and with no hair.
