Sex Pistols announce new compilation album in time for new TV seriesTo go with the upcoming controversial Danny Boyle TV series ‘Pistol’ and neatly announced this morning with a Queen’s jubilee coming up is – Sex Pistols: The Original Recordings .

The Sex Pistols are about to be everywhere with the coming series ‘Pistol’, Danny Boyle’s hugely anticipated telling of the story of one of the most influential and incendiary bands of all time.  The broadcast date on Disney+ was announced yesterday as May 31st in the UK,

The cast includes Toby Wallace, Anson Boon, Louis Partridge, Jacob Slater, Christian Lees, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Sydney Chandler, Talulah Riley, Emma Appleton and Maisie Williams.  The show will introduce the band to a whole new generation via its stars, and also arrives in time for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

This companion compilation brings together Sex Pistols’ original recordings, a welcome reminder of the alternative that the Pistols represented for the Silver Jubilee in 1977 with ‘God Save The Queen’ etc.

It’s the first time in a decade these songs have been able to be gathered together.  Loads of great formats including double vinyl, digital and CD and limited edition double transparent green vinyl and also limited edition yellow vinyl, and collectors’ cassettes

  1. …and the inevitable John Lydon ‘statement’ on his social media says…

“Universal Music Group have announced the release of a new Sex Pistols compilation entitled ‘The Original Recordings’. For the avoidance of any doubt, John Lydon has not approved this compilation and does not endorse or support it. He has not approved the artwork or tracklisting.
He and his team were not involved in producing this compilation and consider it substandard compared to previous Universal releases since 2012.”

  2. “The Original Recordings” or, if you prefer, “Now That’s What I Call Flogging a Dead Horse 27”. Aren’t there already enough Sex Pistols greatest hits packages? Last time I looked ‘Kiss This’ was still in print, certainly.

    Yawn indeed.

  3. To paraphrase Peter Saville when he was discussing Joy Division, with the Sex Pistols you have Never Mind The Bollocks and that’s it, everything else is just marketing
