I first heard ‘Uncertain Smile’ on John Peels late night radio show.
I saved up my money and bought it on 12 inch Vinyl and then the album and played it relentlessly.they were one of the first bands I saw who played instruments with backing tracks/ tapes and drum machines onstage.Matt Johnson used to hve a house down the road from the Republica studio when we were in Hoxton and we used to go round there with Zeke Manyika from Orange Juice and Paul Webb from Talk Talk to play table football.
