rockabilly top 10 classics : number oneChris Cummings is the guitar player from the Riverside Trio and has been an expert in rockabilly ever since I first met him back in Blackpool in the seventies where his band shared bills with my band the Membranes. He sold me a Vox AC30 amp that I have to this day and armed with an encyclopedic knowledge of rock n roll he has been a constant fund of great information.



1. Raw Deal – Junior Thompson 


This great slab of rockabilly was recorded January1956 in Memphis on Meteor Records located just a few streets away from the famous Sun Studios which brought us Elvis Jerry Lee and Johnny Cash. unfortunately for Meteor and unlike Sun Records none of the Meteor artists became household names however they did issue some outstanding tracks and this by Junior Thompson is probably their best.
