Looks like 2018 will be  a  big year for The Cure.

The Hyde Park gig has been announced and now there is a documentary being made with Robert Smith about the band’s idiosyncratic 40 year history according to a tweet from long term Cure video maker Tim Pope…

‘2018 will see me collaborating with Robert on a feature-length, chronological documentary of The Cure’s history from the 1970s via present day to the future. Robert himself will tell the story and this will work alongside other events for the band’s 40-year celebration.’

Pope’s astonishing visuals combined with the bands dayglo psychedelic pop were some of the defining moments of the eighties so we look forward to this documentary visually as well as the story…

Following the announcement of the “40 imaginary years” concert on Saturday July 7th 2018 at BST Hyde Park, London, longtime Cure collaborator and music video director Tim Pope finally talked about opneing the 50 boxes that contain films, photographs, memorabilia and his his 2018 plans with Robert Smith
