Lynch collaborates with Black Triangle Films for new video.
Rita Lynch, Bristol based singer songwriter, whose work is tinged with a dark beauty and ferocious conviction, has teamed up with Black Triangle Films to create a music video for her track Killing Us, which is taken from her latest album Mrs Lynch (an album dedicated to the musician’s mother).
The video features drummer John Langley (The Blue Aeroplanes), and Lynch’s son, Jimmy, who has autism, learning disabilities, and epilepsy.
Frank Cutter (from LTW favourites Anarchistwood) who co-directed the video said, “As a musician myself, I am always amazed by Rita’s guitar playing, and on this particular track, it is absolutely mesmerizing. It was a dream come true for us to work with Rita, as we have been fans of her music for many years.”
Rita Lynch explains “This song is from my latest album, “Mrs. Lynch”, which I recorded with John Langley at Bink Bonk Studio in Bristol. It was a wonderful experience teaming up with Black Triangle Films to bring my song to life in a video. They worked creatively and sensitively to accommodate Jimmy’s disabilities and support him in playing his part. He loved being a part of the filming, the bonfire, the music, and the dancing. Frank and Lindsey’s ideas and direction for the video perfectly aligned with my vision for the song. We completed all the filming in just one day, spanning two different locations, and we all had a fantastic time.”
One of those locations was at The Fleece, the iconic Bristol venue where Lynch has played many times, and the other location was in nearby Stroud, on the land that hosts Griffstock, where Lynch has also been a regular performer.
Starting with simple blues rock riff, the songs sultry opening belies the anger that starts to come through from the vocals. The video centers on Lynch, isolated in the darkness, with flames enveloping the images and the sparks of the fire like an apocalyptic snow globe or angry bees. Infused with pagan imagery, it’s not a coincidence that the video is released in time for the winter solstice.
