Natalie ColeNatalie Cole, singer and daughter of Nat ‘King’ Cole, has died aged 65.

American entertainment website TMZ.com reports that Natalie Cole died in hospital in Los Angeles from congestive heart failure and underlying complicating medical conditions.

She had recently cancelled dates due to take place in December and February 2016 due to poor health.

Natalie had in the past struggled with substance abuse and health issues including Hepatitis C for which she had undergone treatment.

Her hits included This Will Be and she was also known for her virtual duet with her father, jazz great Nat ‘King’ Cole, on Unforgettable.

The Rev Jesse Jackson Sr tweeted: “#NatalieCole, sister beloved & of substance and sound. May her soul rest in peace. #Inseperable” on New Year’s Day and tributes have started to appear from other artists including Chuck D.

  1. Oh my god. I am truly crushed. Natalie Cole was a remarkable songstress. She definitely belongs in the pantheon of the greatest divas of all time, whether it was Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin and Celine Dion. R.I.P. Natalie Cole. She and Nat King Cole together in heaven.
