Revolution rock! top 10 protest songs : number 7

7. The Farm – Altogether Now:

Even the title alone is enough to get the message – a message of peace, inspired by the events of Christmas 1914 on the Western Front. One of Liverpool’s finest bands, The Farm are well known and well respected for their political leanings and this track is the one that says it all. Just 2 or 3 years ago, they performed it live with a brass band at a TUC March and Demo to defend the NHS. “A spirit stronger than war was working that night December 1914, cold, clear and bright Countries’ borders were right out of sight They joined together and decided not to fight”
