Recon Festival in Leeds this weekend is no average festival.

With a bill that banishes boredom and indie sludge this has so many great moments that it is almost impossible to know where to start with a line up that is as diverse as it is fascinating it will be headlined by the great Blixa Bargeld with Teho Teardo. Their live gig is an atmospheric and stripped down affair that is stunning in its atmospheric power and was reviewed in Louder than War here.

If that was not enough the bill also boasts a myriad of fascinating music with a solo appearance from Stephen O’Malley of Sunn O))) the Sheffield anti-choir Juxtavoices teaming up with the specially-formed Bradford Scratch Orchestra, Leeds duo That Fucking Tank will be playing ‘silent gigs’, Detroit rap crew Slum Village on their J Dilla tribute tour, Ghanaian kologo maestro King Ayisoba and a showcase from the Portland-based wunder-label Mississippi Records.
