13198460_800785253356692_7572283930211488389_oThey have a great history of post punk pioneers and John Peel faves but the crucial thing about the Nightingales is that they are currently at the top of their game.

When my band, the Membranes, played with them in Birmingham a couple of weeks ago they have never sounded better – a really fluid kick ass rhythm section and guitar shrapnel underpinning Rob Lloyd’s shrapnel poetry. They play in Manchester on Thursday May 26th at Gullivers with support from The Things and Blacking.

This really is the time to go and see them.
