Ramones- mania -band to Be Remembered with Martin Scorsese Film, Book, Theatrical Play as Part of Anniversary PlansFollowing the recent death of Tommy Ramone, the owners of the band’s estate have announced plans for a heap of retrospective projects, including a Martin Scorsese film.

Billboard reports that impending releases include a theatrical play, a book, reissues, clothing and, of course, the film from Hollywood legend Scorsese, who has famously directed features about the Rolling Stones and George Harrison. Estate co-manager Jeff Jampol also made mention of documentary, although it’s not entirely clear whether this is the same as the Scorsese film or a different project entirely.

“We’re looking at a documentary on the Ramones, we just secured a ton of footage, much of which has never been seen before,” Jampol said. “It came from the Ramones on the road over the years in the ’70s and a little bit in the ’80s, from a gentleman who had shot them, his name is George Seminara.”

As for the book, he explained that it is “not a biographical book so much, but a story of the band’s formation and those first few records and that craziness that happened. It’ll be a combination of prose, photographs and memorabilia and posters, just kind of documenting the scene.”

He further promised “some really interesting combinations of music and new music and remastered music and apparel,” which we can only assume means we’ll be seeing even more people wearing those ubiquitous Ramones T-shirts.

These projects will be unveiled in the lead-up to 2016, which will mark the 40th anniversary of the band’s first album (1976’sRamones). However, the band formed in 1974, meaning many are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the band this year.
