8. BRETT SMILEY ‘Breathlessly Brett’ Recorded in 1974 and unreleased until 2004. ‘It took 30 years to get the mix right’ as Brett likes to say. This is big, loud, unabashed, orchestral rock n’ roll pop that was way ahead of it’s time. Very Britpop/ABC’s ‘Lexicon of Love’. I’ve been lucky to get to know Brett and he’s one of the all time great song writers, in my opinion. Fantastic melodies and wicked deadpan sense of humour.
