Sometimes it seems that punk has permeated the whole world but so far Africa seemed to have resisted its noisy charms. There was always mini scenes of hardcore in the north african belt and some sort of punk scene in South Africa but the rest of the continent already had a wonderful musical culture of its own.

That was until this film which is due out soon- there is some amazing music not this film- some stunning fusions and lots of great energy from the last few decades…

Punk in Africa is the story of the multi-racial punk movement within the recent political and social upheavals experienced in three Southern African countries: South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
