P**sed Jeans to reissue debut album: Details, plus stream of Boring Girls and tour news

P**sed Jeans are to re-release a remastered version of their long out of print 2005 debut, Shallow, with the bonus tracks “Throbbing Organ” and “Night Minutes” from their first single, via Sub Pop. Full details plus a stream of the track Boring Girls below.

A pure, visceral listen, Shallow demonstrated Pissed Jeans roots of hardcore punk more so than any other release by the band. It demonstrated a furious, basic, electric meld of loud, heavy, noisy, punk rock – one that, generally speaking, bands often grow out of with age. It’s that rawness that makes early albums by bands so special, that makes them stand out, and that long time fans of bands tend to shout out for tracks off at gigs! In the words of the band’s Matt Korvette talking about their early days:

“Mainly we just wanted to bludgeon the listener will dull, monotonous droning rock music that just sucks the energy out of you, the musical equivalent to watching a toilet flush.”

And to quote off the press release:

“The album (Shallow) sounds like a big pile of mud and broken glass ripping through your stereo speakers in the most killer way imaginable.”

Shallow is now available for preorder via the Sub Pop Mega Mart. Fans who pre-order the LP version of Shallow via megamart.subpop.com will receive the limited “Loser Edition” of the album on coloured vinyl (while supplies last), the “Throbbing Organ” 7” and an immediate download of the entire album. The remastered album is available for purchase digitally now from Sub Pop Mega Mart, iTunes and Amazon.

We’re told Pissed Jeans are working on a follow up to their last album, Honeys, an album which cracked the top 50 of our albums of the year list last year.

The band are also on tour later this year – full details below the stream of Boring Girls:

Guy is a former full time member of the Louder Than War editorial team, who's since moved on to pastures new. Music's been a large part of his life since he first stumbled across Peel on his tranny as a fifteen year old. His whole approach to music was learnt from Peel in fact, which includes having as inclusive a taste in music as possible. Guy devotes most of his time looking for new music & although he's been known to say "the only good music is new music" he pretty much accepts this is bollocks. Favourite band The Minutemen.
