Journalist and Prince fanatic Simon Price will DJ a special party at Hebden Bridge Trades Club in memory of the pop genius whose death sparked a worldwide wave of mourning.

Price made his name as music critic on the Independent, but his love of the diminutive pop legend from Minneapolis has seen him DJ successful Prince nights in London, and now he brings his show to Hebden Bridge on Friday 6 May.

His DJ set spans the whole of Prince’s wildly successful career that saw him sell 150 million records worldwide changing the course of musical history with utterly unique albums like Sign O’the Times and Purple Rain.

Prince scored countless British hit singles like Kiss that always guarantee a packed dance floor, and he even managed to write chart toppers for other artists, including Sinead O’Connor’s version of Nothing Compares 2 U made memorable by its iconic video.

Trades Club Entertainment Manager Mal Campbell said: “I am a massive Prince fan, and like all music lovers I was shocked at the news of his untimely death, so I wanted to put on an event that pays a fitting tribute dancing to the hits that defined a generation.

“Simon was the perfect choice as he is an absolute Prince fanatic, and his DJ sets are full of fun and funk which is exactly how we should remember a true rock and roll great.”

Tickets for the Prince tribute on Friday May 6 are available from or 01422 845265.
