Post Grunge Noisenik Alert! Bad Paintings Label New Release Joint Ep With Joey Fourr (Ex Tubelord) And H. Grimace.Last year our LTW label released this great single by York band Fawn Spots- post hardcore noise with No Age, IceAge and other new century noiseniks. It was a great single and the band also launched their own label which has released a new single by 2 fellow noise travellers.

Post-grunge pairing JOEY FOURR (ex-TUBELORD) and H. GRIMACE are setto release the split EP Nothing Beats Reality on Monday October 28th 2013 worldwide via Bad Paintings. The release features three tracks from each band.

Whilst cut from very different cloths, the two sides of Nothing Beats
Reality are joined by their distorted, dissatisfied take on pop.

Recorded entirely in his bedroom, JOEY FOURR’s side A takes an obsession with L7 and Bikini Kill and pushes it to the extreme. The result sounds like Prince being played by The Melvins, all wrapped up in bubblegum.

On the B side, H. GRIMACE brings early 90s college rock and Dischord era melody in the vein of Shudder to Think and Autoclave – disaffected but driven.

The title Nothing Beats Reality seems almost satirical the more you listen to this split EP. The songs by JOEY FOURR and H. GRIMACE share a sense of longing and yearning for something more.

JOEY FOURR is laughing reality square on in the face – *“Here I am, with a girl, standing innocent, with the eyes of the world, rolling round at me.”

However, for H. GRIMACE this EP is as introverted as it is existential; they’re songs are a comment on the sobering and sometimes laughable forms that real life presents itself in – check out track End of the Road with the lyrics “I’m not trying to be philosophical about it, some things take the p*ss.”

The cassette features original artwork created together by JOEY and H.GRIMACE.

This is the first release by label Bad Paintings following their 2013 Cassette Store Day releases of Guided by Voices and Xiu Xiu.
