Police in Indonesia’s most conservative state, Aceh, have arrested 65 punks after a concert.

The punks were detained and had their heads shaved losing their mohicans because of their perceived threat to Islamic values. On one level it shows the international reach of punk and there is a huge punk scene in Indonesia- we have been in touch with lots of punks over there, it also shows the sad lack of tolerance in the modern world.

The teenage punks were also stripped of dog-collar necklaces and chains and then thrown in pools of water for “spiritual” cleansing,

For months local punks have complained about police oppression but this has been the most overt display of aggression by the authorities in a place where adultery is punishable by stoning to death and gay people have been thrown in jail or lashed in public with rattan canes.

At the punk gig attended by 100 people baton wielding cops trashed the gig chasing punks who had travelled from all over Indonesia to be there

We have several Indonesian punk fans who follow us on Facebook- can you please email us and tell us what you think of the situation out there.

  1. Is there anything happening to support Indonesian punx? Raising awareness, benefit gig or petition?
Why is it that today’s youth are persecuted for not conforming? Indonesia, uk, punx or others just looking for something more substantial and trustworthy than accepting the byproducts of the current ruling classes?
    Things need to change….

  3. After looking over a handful of the blog articles on your web site, I truly like your technique of writing a blog. I added it to my bookmark site list and will be checking back in the near future. Please visit my web site as well and let me know what you think.

  5. This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

  6. The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

  7. And all of this because of what? Stupid fucking religion, its just terrible religion just holds humanity back, it always has and it will always hold us back until it ceases to exist.
